licensing error 0xc004f027

I have installed Windows Vista Beta 2 and have been working with it for a couple of days, but since a few days I have been getting somce licensing error screens like every 2 hours. I first ignored it, but after my first reboot Vista won't startup anymore. When it starts loading the desktop I get the following error:
----------------------------------------- Licensing Error You can not logon because you have not activated your copy of Windows
Please activate your copy of Windows and try again
Error information: Code: 0xC004F027 Description: The software licensing service reported that the license is tampered -----------------------------------------
First of all, I have never tampered with anything. I just did the install, installed my apps (Photoshop, Arles, Kaspersky, Mirc, MSN Live, Office 2007 Beta 2, FireFox, ICQ, WinIso) and that's it. So I have no idea why it says I have tampered the license? I wouldn't even know how.
Anyway, it tells me to please activate my copy, but how do I do this if I can't login? Is there anyway to fix this? I would hate to re-install everything agian :(

Activation is like a kid calling home from summer camp to talk to mummy. If the kid can't talk to mummy, the kid will just sit in the corner and stew, and refuse to play nice. Are you connected to the internet?

Hello, i have the same problem and i always connected with the internet by LAN. Is there nobody how now the right answer about this question!? Best Regards

I am getting the same error... I have not tampered with anything at all. It says:
You can not log on because you have not activated your copy of Windows.
Please activate your copy of Windows and try again.

I activated this morning and then logged out, then logged back in, now it gives me this. I can't even log in to reactivate! It just lets me open the "Contact Microsoft to help resolve this problem" and that is the only thing I can do.

Yeah, I'm getting the same problem. I just activated, then logged off, back on, and now I can't log in because it says that I haven't activated. I had 14 days left to activate and it shouldn't run out by now, and I am always online through my LAN.

I know I'm posting a little late, however I also have the same issue. I had activated yesterday, and now after a little playing I have reached the same error. When clicking the contact MS button, I am able to get Opera (my default browser) open by clicking "search knowledgebase". From here I was able to get Explorer.exe (c:\windows\explorer.exe) to load from Opera. This now gives me a task bar, etc. I am unable to open the control panel to reactivate (It opens then closes very quickly). I do however have a semi functional computer. Steps leading to this problem were uninstall Trend PC-Cillen 14 Beta trial, and install Kaspersky 6.0.0.300.
Does anyone have anything else to add? or know of a way to activate without the control panel?

Edit: Seems I may have fixed it. When I was able to get the task bar up, opened Kaspersky, updated, then disabled Proactive defences. Rebooted, and all appears well.

Hi Davey, When you search for the error number 0xC004F027, you find posts from Kent_Diego dated the 25th of June. He writes that Kapersky can be the reason for this. Regards, Monika
